Dr. Chifumi Iseki is a neurologist and Ph.D. graduate from Yamagata University Graduate School of Medicine (2007), specializing in clinical medicine within the neurology department. As a member of the Japanese Society of Neurology, the Japanese Society of Dementia Research, and the Japanese Society of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, her expertise spans the spectrum of neurological disorders affecting older adults. With a focus on cognition, physical disability, and behavioral aspects, Iseki is deeply invested in enhancing the quality of life for individuals facing dementia and other neurological dysfunctions, especially idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, Hakim disease) as well as older adults with frailty. career in the hydrocephalus society began with epidemiological research on a cohort in a specific area of Japan, revealing a 0.5% prevalence of possible idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) among the older population.
