Dr. Sevil Yasar, MD, PhD

Lecture Title: Beyond iNPH: a holistic approach to patient care
Dr. Yasar received her medical degree from the Semmelweis Medical University, School of Medical Sciences, (Budapest, Hungary) and later her Ph.D. in pharmacology at the Semmelweis Medical University, School of Pharmacological Sciences (Budapest, Hungary) in 2006.
She obtained her training in internal medicine and her fellowship training in geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She joined the faculty of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in 2001 and is currently an Associate Professor of the Departments of Medicine and Neurology.
Dr. Yasar is a clinician-scientist, and her clinical work includes evaluating and treating patients at the Johns Hopkins Cerebrospinal Fluid Disorder (CSF) Center since 2010 and at the Johns Hopkins Memory Center since 2009.
Her clinical work at the CSF center is complemented by her research on comorbidities such as neurodegenerative disorders and vascular risk factors in patients with iNPH. Her research in the area of dementia focuses on cardiovascular risk factors and pharmacoepidemiology of late-life memory disorders using data from numerous observational and intervention studies examining the relationship between antihypertensive and lipid-lowering medications.
She is an active Hydrocephalus Society (HS) member and has been the Treasury/Secretary of HS since 2023.
