Fernando Hakim
Chief of the Neurosurgery Department at University Hospital Fundacion, Santa Fe de Bogota
Neurosurgeon based in Bogota, Colombia, currently Chief of the Neurosurgery Department at University Hospital Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogota (UHFSFB). He attended medical school at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada in Bogota, where he also completed his neurosurgery residency. Later he was a Neurosurgery, Neuropathology and Pediatric Neurosurgery fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School. He has worked as a neurosurgeon in UHFSFB for almost 30 years, and is also a member of the Colombian Association of Neurosurgery and the International Society for Hydrocephalus and Cerebrospinal Fluid Disorders. Through his work, he has continued his father Dr. Salomon Hakim’s legacy in the research and treatment of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). He currently sits as Director of the NPH Clinical Care Center he helped build at the UHFSFB, which is certified by the Joint Commission International and focuses on diagnosis, surgical management, and clinical research of this pathology.
