Jan Malm

Jan Malm is professor of Neurology, head of department and one of the leaders of the hydrocephalus research group in Umea, Sweden. He has about 30 years of clinical experience in the investigation and treatment of hydrocephalus. His research interest has been focused on various aspects of hydrocephalus, CSF dynamics, blood flow measurements and in recent years, the spaceflight-induced ocular syndrome (SANS) in astronauts.
Malm was principal investigator for the epidemiological study INPH-CRasH, and is currently working with VESPR, a prospective study performing MRI in 1000 elderly with gait disturbances. He is also a participant in the PENS study. Malm has national research grants from the Swedish Heart- and Lung Foundation, the Swedish Brain foundation and the Swedish space agency.
