Prof. Dr.med. Luca Papavero

Luca graduated from the University of Sassari (Italy). With a grant of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) he completed his residency fellowship in the Neurosurgical Department of the Homburg/Saar University (Germany). He practiced brain and spinal microsurgery. In 2000 he became Deputy Chair of the Neurosurgical Department of the University Medical Center in Hamburg. From 2007 to 2020 he chaired the Clinic of Spine Surgery of the Academic Hospital Schoen Clinic in Hamburg and retired as Senior Professor. He was awarded with the Certificate of Excellence of the German Spine Society (DWG).
Luca is still active in academics and his articles have been published in international Journals. His interest goes to the lumbar spinal stenosis. From the clinical perspective he focused on the minimally invasive surgical treatment of the narrowed spinal canal. The clinical research is centered on the fluid dynamics in the spinal subarachnoid space and on the redundant nerve roots.
