Lecture Τitle: Non-invasive continuous monitoring of cranial volume composition
Prof. Vartan Kurtcuoglu heads the Interface Group at the Department of Physiology, University of Zurich. He holds joint appointments as Professor of Computational and Experimental Physiology at the University of Zurich’s Faculties of Medicine and Science, and as an accredited professor at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich. He earned his diploma in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich in 2002, completing his thesis at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS PROMES), and received his PhD from ETH Zurich in 2006 for computational modeling of cerebrospinal fluid dynamics in the cerebral ventricular system. He currently serves as chairman of the International Cerebrospinal Fluid Dynamics Society.
Prof. Kurtcuoglu’s Interface Group focuses on fluid physiology, particularly the dynamics and transport processes of fluids in the central nervous system. Combining experimental, computational, and clinical research methods across multiple scales—from cells and computer models to animal studies and human patients—his interdisciplinary approach integrates engineering, biology, and medicine to address clinical needs.
