Eduardo Colombari

Unesp, São Paulo State University, Brazil

Eduardo Colombari is a neuroscientist whose work bridges neurovascular control, autonomic regulation, and the central mechanisms that link the brain to cardiovascular and fluid homeostasis in both physiological and pathological states, including hypertension. He initially trained in Dentistry, earning a DDS degree, and subsequently pursued advanced research training with a PhD at the University of São Paulo (USP) under the supervision of Professor Benedito H. Machado, alongside formative research experience with Professor William T. Talman at the University of Iowa.
His research program focuses on brainstem circuitry and its integrative role in cardiovascular regulation and body fluid balance, addressing how central neural pathways shape sympathetic outflow and contribute to neurogenic hypertension. Through sustained international collaborations and the work of his PhD trainees, he has published widely in high-impact journals, helping to clarify key neurophysiological mechanisms underlying chronic cardiovascular disease.
As a professor and investigator, Colombari is committed to advancing cardiovascular physiology through rigorous experimental and translational approaches, aiming to convert mechanistic insights into concepts that support improved prevention and treatment strategies for autonomic and vascular disorders.
